Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, often referred to professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to sign for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The label debuted her first EP titled Pho in October 2016, and she was able to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 following the release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw her release new music through the internet including Bound. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then, wanted to have her create Rihanna reference. Her announcement to sign with Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat was her contribution for the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October of 2016, she released her first EP, Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She also appeared on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music video followed followed by a video in September. The 9th of November saw her release two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared with Cole in her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. A music video debuted on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within a week, it had over 3 million views. She supported 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
